Dalhousie Students

Get your CoAMS registration fee covered!

WHO? All Dalhousie medical students (DMNS and DMNB) who are presenting their RIM projects (oral or poster!) are eligible

WHAT? The RIM Knowledge Translation Fund provides up to $750 in funding once for students to help offset any costs associated with their RIM project (including registration, poster printing, travel)

HOW? Check under Brightspace —> Research in Medicine —> RIM Knowledge Translation Fund for details on how to get reimbursed

The CoAMS 2024 Abstract Submission is no longer accepting responses.

The CoAMS 2024 Academic Research Event will be held at the CHEB on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

You will be notified by email to inform you whether your submission was accepted or declined. Additional details of the event will be provided at this time.

We look forward to connecting with fellow medical students and seeing your hard work.

Further Details:

  • This is an in-person event. There is no hybrid program offered.

  • Only one submission per person will be considered for entry.

  • Deadline to submit: February 23, 2024 at 23:59.

  • Judges will include Dalhousie faculty and staff physicians.

  • Results section MUST be complete. Preliminary results are acceptable but "results pending" or similar is NOT acceptable.

  • Awards will be given to selected students based on project topic categories (see below).

Poster Requirements

  • Dimension48" width x 36" height

  • Minimum font: 24-36pt.

  • Judges will circulate for your presentation.

  • Students are responsible for printing their own poster.

Oral Presentation Requirements

  • 5 minutes long (additional time will not be permitted).

  • 20 slides max (including title and references).

  • 2 minute panel question period. Panel will include presenters from the previous four presentations.

  • Must use template provided (distributed to accepted presenters).

Abstract Submission

Abstracts should be in a format of: 

  1. Title

  2. Purpose/Objectives

  3. Materials/Methods 

  4. Results 

  5. Conclusions 

With a maximum character limit of 2,600 (spaces not counted) including titles, body of abstract, and references if included.
