Conference of Atlantic Medical Students

Halifax, Nova Scotia, is proud to be hosting the Conference of Atlantic Medical Students (CoAMS) in April, 2024.

Innovation and Inspiration: Resilience in a World of Change.

The past year was a testing year for Nova Scotians and Atlantic Canadians alike. Unprecedented wildfires destroyed hundreds of homes days before flash floods swept people, vehicles, and bridges away, all while our healthcare system, relied upon by so many in Canada, continued to be pushed to the brink. It has become clear that the world in which we will one day practise medicine is increasingly different from the one our teachers and parents grew up in, and with that change comes new and unique challenges.

  • CoAMS 2023

Shining a light on underserved populations

A particular focus on vulnerable populations who receive fewer health care services and/or face barriers to accessing care. Focusing on understanding the cause of disparities in healthcare, solutions to addressing lack of care, and working with underserved populations.

  • CoAMS 2022

    Shifting paradigms

With the recent turn to a new decade, medical students are challenged to learn and unlearn ideas, biases, norms, and treatments across vast topics that make up our medical education. Shifting Paradigms seeks to address social inequities, innovation, and intra-professional reflection within medicine.

  • CoAMS 2021

The world is changing, so is medicine

Shining a spotlight on recent innovations in medicine, and on how healthcare can and must adapt to the social, demographic and technological changes of recent years. The world is changing and so is medicine so CoAMS is bringing the conference to you. Explore groundbreaking research and connect with experts.

Our Mission

CoAMS 2024 will be hosted by Dalhousie University of Nova Scotia in April of 2024. Medical students from across Atlantic Canada are invited to take part in the conference, its goal being to engage undergraduate medical students, members of the public and students of other health alliance professions to create lasting bonds and to celebrate studying medicine in Atlantic Canada.

CoAMS 2024

This conference seeks to facilitate student networking to build a strong community environment among Atlantic medical students that will promote knowledge sharing and future collaboration. To accomplish this, a series of medical talks and workshops will be offered to students by a variety of health care professionals and related professions.
