Atlantic Canada is fortunate enough to be the home of four medical school campuses in three provinces: Dalhousie Medicine in Halifax, NS and Saint John, NB, Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, NL, and Centre de Formation Médicale de Sherbrooke in Moncton, NB.

We are beyond excited to host hundreds of medical students from across Atlantic Canada in Halifax for our annual CoAMS conference this coming April 2024. The goal of the conference has always been to engage undergraduate medical students from Atlantic Canada with each other, with members of the public and with other health and research professionals for a weekend of education, skill-building, and collegiality. In a time of particular uncertainty for healthcare in Canada, CoAMS 2024 represents a chance for students and sponsors alike to celebrate studying medicine here in Atlantic Canada.

About CoAMS 2024:

Expected Attendees: an expected 200+ Canadian medical students will be at this conference

Dates: Friday, April 26, 2024 to Sunday, April 28, 2024

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Halifax, Nova Scotia, is proud to be hosting the Conference of Atlantic Medical Students (CoAMS) in April, 2024. The conference occurs annually and is hosted in an alternating fashion by one of the four participating campuses in Atlantic Canada: Dalhousie Medicine Halifax, Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, Memorial Medical School or Centre de Formation Médicale de Sherbrooke in Moncton, NB.

This conference seeks to facilitate student networking and build a strong community environment amongst Atlantic medical students. The weekend will involve a series of research presentations from both students and senior researchers, medical talks from keynote speakers, and educational workshops for hands-on learning. It will be an excellent opportunity for medical students to both showcase their achievements and further expand their skills and knowledge.

Additionally, CoAMS 2024 will be an excellent opportunity for your organization to be positively associated with the future of healthcare in Atlantic Canada. The sponsorship packages we are offering provide a full spectrum of opportunities to be involved, and we would greatly appreciate your support.

Theme Message:

The Conference of Atlantic Medical Students is proud to present this year’s theme:

Innovation and Inspiration: Resilience in a World of Change.

The past year was a testing year for Nova Scotians and Atlantic Canadians alike. Unprecedented wildfires destroyed hundreds of homes days before flash floods swept people, vehicles, and bridges away, all while our healthcare system, relied upon by so many in Canada, continued to be pushed to the brink. It has become clear that the world in which we will one day practise medicine is increasingly different from the one our teachers and parents grew up in, and with that change comes new and unique challenges.

This year’s conference will have two areas of focus:

Climate Change and Disaster Response: discussing topics surrounding climate change and social inequities, global health and equity, changing epidemiology of disease and how we as future physicians can be better prepared for responding to natural disasters when they hit close to home.

Mental Resilience: discussing mental wellbeing in physicians, students and the general population, along with strategies to remain resilient throughout an ever-changing and challenging career. With optimism and innovation, we will look for opportunities for improvement in our healthcare systems, to better allow us to serve our patients and communities.

Join us in April 2024 to discover new ideas, challenge your current understanding, and interact with hundreds of unique medical students from all across Canada. Our conference will feature academic presentations, keynote speakers and interactive breakout sessions to compliment our theme.

Diamond Sponsor – $5000+

• All Platinum Benefits, plus:

• 5 minutes speaking time to address delegates

• Name/logo included on the initial slide before each presentation/talk.

• Explicit mention by CoAMS MC.

• Display of your organization’s logo in the header of all CoAMS 2024 materials.

• Naming of a lunch in honour of your organization with invitation for 2 members to join and greet the assembly before the meal.

Platinum Sponsor – $4000

• All Gold Benefits, plus:

• Acknowledgment of partnership for a workshop and/or academic awards.

• Naming of a breakfast or break in honour of your organization

• Tickets (2) to attend the Saturday evening gala with students.

Bronze Sponsor – $1000, option to contribute through a means not otherwise specified.

• Incorporation of donated goods into the conference.

Tentative Schedule of Events (Schedule Subject to Change)

Friday April 26th, 2024:

Poster Presentations / Student Networking Expo

Sponsors with booths will be able to interact with attendees at the expo

Evening Meet-and-Greet Opening Ceremony
Evening event including a beverage bar, appetizers, ice-breaker activities and a brief presentation(s)

Saturday April 27th, 2024:

Morning: Breakfast and Welcome, followed by keynote speakers and a morning of talks from various healthcare professionals consistent with our theme

Lunch: Lunch will be provided/catered, and will present another opportunity for networking between students and with sponsors

Afternoon: Following an additional keynote speaker, an afternoon of breakout sessions addressing climate change, mental health & resilience strategies, and disaster response simulations.

Evening: Gala and Dinner Event, including a cocktail hour followed by a dinner, speeches from various guest speakers and live entertainment.

Sunday April 28th, 2024:

Morning: Breakfast, followed by further talks, breakout sessions, simulations

Lunch: Lunch will be provided/catered and will present another opportunity for networking between students and sponsors. Closing remarks will be made at lunch, and this will conclude the CoAMS 2024 Conference.
